Watch Out San Diego Lyrics

I’m just an Indiana girl who’s
Lived in Houston and Chicago
Always wanted to live in California
Ever since I watched 90210
But LA is just too LA for me
So it’s off to San Diego here I go

I’m going to San Diego
San Diego here I go
You better watch out San Diego
Cuz San Diego here I go
I’m going to San Diego
San Diego here I go
You better watch out San Diego
Cuz San Diego here I go

I got nothing tying me down
And I’ve just paid off all my student loans
I’m stepping back & changing my pace
Gonna relax and just take it slow
Like a surfer girl that lives by the waves
So it’s off to San Diego here I go

I’m going to San Diego
San Diego here I go
You better watch out San Diego
Cuz San Diego here I go
I’m going to San Diego
San Diego here I go
You better watch out San Diego
Cuz San Diego here I go

Packed my bags, headed for the beach
Got a little old used blue Cabrio
Driving again on down the streets
With my top down singing to the radio
Everybody better look out for me
Because I’m driving in San Diego and they say oh no

Because I’m driving in San Diego
I’m telling everybody who should know
You better watch out San Diego
Cuz San Diego here I go
San Diego, San Diego
San Diego here I go
You better watch out San Diego
Cuz San Diego here I go

Story Behind This Song

I started this song as I was driving up to Wisconsin one night on a work trip and I decided right then and there I was moving to San Diego. I had always wanted to move to California, after watching 90210 as a kid and being inspired by the mysterious Dylan character that surfed. The whole surfing/beach thing appealed to me like none other! However it is a bit pricey to live here in SoCal, so I had to save up money after college first. When my apartment building notified me it was turning into a condo, I took that as my sign and I made a decision to move, with or without a job there. Luckily I came across a great opportunity and had a great job when I got here!

I wasn't always dead set on moving to San Diego, I thought maybe LA or Orange County. However once I visited a friend of mine that lived in San Diego and told her that, she was like why are you even considering anywhere else.  After spending a few days here, and going up to LA for another few days, I totally got her point. Don't get me wrong, I love L.A., there's lot's of fun pockets, but as a whole it's just too spread out and glamorous for me.  I like the smaller beachy vibe that the San Diego community gives me and I feel like I was always meant to live here.

When I was young I told my cousin, I'm going to move to California after college and open up a surf shop.Well, I've moved to California, but haven't opened up a surf shop...yet, although I might try selling and promoting some cool and handy surf products here perhaps in the not too distant future :)
