Single Together Lyrics

You see I never wanna be a fiancé
I don’t need my dad to give me away
I’ve been gone for quite a while was an independent child
I don’t need a fluffy wedding day

But we’re gonna take it to the next level
We’re gonna make a big change in our life
We’re gonna set each other free
To run off and just be single together tonight

Ya know I never wanna walk down that aisle
Just never had that kinda fantasy
Of everybody standing up and turning around
Just to get a good look at me

But we’re gonna take it to the next level
We’re gonna make a big change in our life
We’re gonna set each other free
To run off and just be single together tonight

We know we really love each other
We’re committed and we’ll see things through
We don’t need a lot of money to make it official
We’re going straight to the honeymoon

And we’re gonna take it to the next level
We’re gonna make a big change in our life
We’re gonna set each other free
To run off and just be single together tonight

Single together forever and ever
Single together for life

Story Behind This Song

I've never been into weddings, they've never been something I've dreamed about as a kid. The first wedding I was ever in as a little kid I even messed up as I was the flower girl but I forgot to drop the flowers.

I guess I just don't see the need for all the planning, organizing, and fluff that goes behind putting a wedding together.  It's amazing how much of a premium price it is when you're buying things for a wedding vs. a normal occasion.  If people would just donate to charity or pay a person's education off for what they would spend on weddings I thing we could make a real improvement in society.

Don't get me wrong, a nice wedding can be a special day to remember forever and some people really enjoy the whole process.  However it's amazing the time and money that can go into just one day vs. the time and energy people could put into the actual marriage itself.

For me, I'd rather just spend the money on the honeymoon and a big huge celebration at a 20 year anniversary or so to truly celebrate the institution of a successful and loving marriage.
