Friends with Benefits Lyrics

I’m like a broken record
But you listen to me every time
And even though I rarely take it
I appreciate your advice
We’re partners in crime
We’ve shared some legendary times
And thank you again for helping me out
When I needed you to be a spy

I’ve got myself some friends with benefits
Friends with benefits, friends with benefits
Don’t you wanna get yourself some
Friends with benefits
So many benefits of having some
Really good, really good friends

You laugh at me when I fall on my face
You know I would do the same
But I know you’ll be there for me
When I’m burned by the flames of the game
We’re on the same journey
Singing out loud on a roller coaster ride
And thank you again for telling me about
All the stupid things I did last night (oh no)

I’ve got myself some friends with benefits
Friends with benefits, friends with benefits
Everybody wants to get some
Friends with benefits
So many benefits of having some
Really good, really good friends

Friends won’t leave you in the dust
Friends can hook you up
Friendship can turn into love
With time, respect, and trust

So come on let’s be friends come over
And get yourself some benefits
Believe me I’ve got plenty
Plenty and plenty of benefits
I know tonight can be a night
We won’t forget and you won’t regret
So many benefits we can get
By being friends

So why don’t, we just be friends
Friends with benefits
Friends with benefits
Friends with benefits
You never can have too many
Friends with benefits
So many benefits of having some
Really good, really good friends
So many benefits of having som
Really good friends
Friends, friends, friends, friends, friends, friends, friends,
Friends, friends, friends, friends
Really good friends

Story Behind This Song

When writing songs, I often like to use a phrase that typically means one thing and put a different spin on it. That’s what I did with this thing, for the most part ;)

I know there’s the saying it’s not how many friends you have but having real and true friends. I completely agree, but I can also say that I don’t think someone can ever have too many true friends. You’ll miss out on so many different points of view and opportunities for experiences with people if you close yourself off to them. For the rare time or two I’ve perused dating sites, I would see guys saying that they’re not looking for friendship and that they already have enough friends. I believe that is a close minded and snobby view to have. I think the best relationships start out as friendships, which is a main factor behind my writing this song. When you’re friends with someone you respect them and are there for them and there aren’t these games that people play and that tend to be the necessary evil with getting into most “relationships”.

This song is also about being real! Friends tell you the truth, straight up. You can ask them something, and if they are a good friend they will tell you an answer whether you like it or not, or take their advice or not.

Plus, having a variety of friends can get you some true benefits indeed. So many people meet other significant others through friends and friends can do your dirty work for you and get you some inside scoop that you’re not going to get from fake friends that often just try and appease you and keep you at bay!

So go out there and make a new friend today, you never can have too many, really good friends!
