Crowd Pleaser Lyrics

I write some songs and
Sing some other tunes
That nobody really knows
But I need to hear you
Singing loud with me
And see you dancing
On your toes
These songs of mine
Are a great release
But if nobody really
Gets my stuff
I’ll just pull out another
Song or two and hope
That they’re good enough

To be crowd pleaser, a no brainer
What everybody wants to hear
It just takes your mind
Off of everything while you
Listen and drink your beer
Just jump around and sing along
You can’t do anything wrong
Cause it’s a crowd pleaser
Everybody knows it
Plain good sing-a-long song

We got a brown eyed girl
And she’s living on a prayer
Those karaoke classics
We can hear anywhere
It’s the encore we’ve waited
The whole night for
The song that never gets old
We just want more, more, more

It’s a crowd pleaser, a no brainer
What everybody wants to hear
It just takes your mind
Off of everything while you
Listen and drink your beer
Just jump around and sing along
You can’t do anything wrong
Cause it’s a crowd pleaser
Everybody knows it
Plain good sing-a-long song

It’s something we all have in common
It’s a tie that binds
We know all the words by heart
And we sing them rhyme by rhyme
As the sound of our voices
Comes together here tonight
Our troubles are forgotten
And everything seems alright

Cuz it’s a crowd pleaser, a no brainer
What everybody wants to hear
It takes your mind off of everything
While you listen and drink your beer
Just jump around and sing along
You can’t do anything wrong
Cuz it’s a crowd pleaser
Everybody knows it
Plain good sing-a-long song

Cuz it’s a crowd pleaser, a no brainer
What everybody wants to hear
It takes your mind off of everything
While you listen and drink your beer
Just jump around and sing along
You can’t do anything wrong
Cuz it’s a crowd pleaser
Everybody knows it
Plain good sing-a-long song

Story Behind This Song

Before I learned how to play the guitar, I would often be a total nerd and buy these custom CDG CD's so I could sing all the songs I would want to sing that were never available at Clark Bar, where I would sing karaoke a lot back in my Chicago days after softball games with agency co-workers.  Granted, I wasn't singing totally obscure artsy music or anything it's just that a lot of the times, I really identified with and wanted to sing the songs from some more well known arists that not everyone knew, as they were never singles on the radio.

It's awesome to be able to just grab a mic and belt out some of those songs, but then it's an even better feeling when the crowd knows the songs too and is jumping around and singing along with you.  That's what happened the first time I sang "Since You've Been Gone" by Kelly Clarkson,  I just remember how the whole crowd was getting into it, singing a long and jumping up and down - so with karaoke I've learned, it's best to stick with the well known songs and just have fun.

It's similar to how bands have that one song that they have to play all the time even if they are sick to death of it.  They know it's a crowd favorite, and great bands will always play that song to please their fans no matter how tired they get of it!  Crowd pleasing songs can also just be funny joke songs that people get into.  I remember once at a Bob Schneider show, he was singing one of his songs called "Sons of Ralph".  It's basically a fun little Pirate Song that guys totally got into.  The guys were just putting their arms around each other's shoulders swaying from side to side singing along with Bob and at that moment, this song idea was inspired, that was what got this song off the ground!

So I think it's great to have those songs that you are artistically proud of, but I think it's just as necessary to always mix in a good fun and simple crowd pleasing sing a long songs that everybody can jump around and sing-a-long to!
